The Hospital 

Located in the heart of Palestine, Texas, Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) is a 156-bed facility that includes acute care, critical access and behavior health services, and serves Anderson County, as well as surrounding counties.  A healthcare leader in the community for 65 years, the hospital hosts many services including state-of-the-art diagnostics, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Patients have access to advanced technology including a new $1.5 million MRI and Interventional Cath Lab.  There is also an 11,500 ft. “Birth Place” with a Level II Nursery, and over 20 other surgical specialties. 

In addition, PRMC offers The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, as well as a Sleep Disorder Center and Home Health services. The PRMC Behavioral Health Center of Excellence, located at the West Campus, offers both inpatient and outpatient therapy services for those 18 years and older with two distinct units (adult and geropsych) staffed by a team of medical professionals including two psychiatrists.

The hospital has consistently earned accreditation from The Joint Commission, and PRMC is also a Certified Chest Pain Center.

Community 

You will find the Palestine community situated deep in the heart of East Texas among rolling hills, hardwood forests, tall pines, dogwood trees, lush pastures, panoramic lakes and an abundance of wildlife.  Palestine is the center of activity for surrounding smaller communities and is conveniently located between Dallas and Houston.  Established in 1846 as a center of commerce and culture, Palestine continues to thrive because its small town charm and welcoming spirit.  With a unique history and desire to preserve the treasures of past cultures, the people of Palestine also embrace the future by continually seeking out additional economic opportunities. 

Palestine features many attractions and ‘hidden treasures’.  These include the Texas Theatre, a crown jewel of downtown Palestine and the finest venue for live entertainment in East Texas and the award-winning Main Street District, which covers 44 blocks of Downtown, Old Town and the Courthouse Square and features historic architecture, shopping, antiques, restaurants and more.

Palestine is also home to the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility, a NASA facility responsible for providing launch, tracking and control of unmanned high altitude balloons, and the Texas State Railroad (TSR), the “Official Railroad of Texas.” It operates the only consistently run steam engines in the state. Offering excursions, special events, and dinner trains throughout the year, the railroad has been a very popular locale for filmmakers and television show producers – the most popular of which is the Polar Express™, which attracts approximately 75, 000 visitors annually.   

Recreation

For the outdoor enthusiasts, Palestine offers a multitude of hiking, fishing and boating opportunities, as well as parks and wildlife.

Lake Palestine is located just 25 minutes from Palestine and is a 25,600 acre recreational destination on the Neches River.  With a total length of 18 miles, 135 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 16.25 feet, Lake Palestine offers plenty of room for fishing, boating and skiing.

Davey Dogwood Park is a 200-acre park open year-round and has five miles of hard surface roads, unincorporated hiking trails and scenic views. 

Awarded Golf Weekly’s #1 course in Texas and #26 in America in 2011, the Pine Dunes Golf Course is open year-round and is located just 20 minutes from downtown Palestine in Frankston. 

The Palestine YMCA is a focal point in the community for families.  It features a spacious wellness center with state-of-the-art equipment, a rock climbing wall, racquetball courts, a 50 meter outdoor pool, as well as a large new soccer complex to be completed in the fall of 2016.
