Otero is run byManagement and Training Corporation(MTC), one of the largest for-profit private prison companies in the United States, and operates adjacent to the Otero County Federal Prison, which is also operated by MTC. Otero has the bed space to detain over 1,000 people inimmigration custodyat any given time.
