Shoals Hospital (Shoals) provides general acute care. Services include a 24-hour Emergency Department, medical/oncology, medical/surgical inpatient units as well as intensive care and a short stay surgery unit.  Shoals also operates the area’s only in-patient acute rehab facility, the J. W. Sommer Rehab Unit. The Open MRI Center compliments the full service Imaging and diagnostics department. With more than 100 physicians on staff, representing over 24 specialty areas of medicine, Shoals serves a population of approximately 220,000.
