Middle Tennessee Medical Center

Facility:

Middle Tennessee Medical Center is a 286-bed private, not-for-profit hospital located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. MTMC is a member of Saint Thomas Health Services and Ascension Health.

With nearly 300 physicians on our medical staff, representing nearly 30 different medical specialties, MTMC offers a comprehensive array of services. MTMC's Emergency Department, greatly expanded in the summer of 2002, treats more than 50,000 patients per year. More than 90,000 patients each year seek outpatient diagnostic or treatment procedures in one of our facilities. Nearly 2,500 babies are born each year in the Women's Pavilion at MTMC, another facility that has undergone a significant expansion in 2002. The new NICU Nursery provides state-of-the-art care for at-risk babies.

Our History
Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC) was established as Rutherford Hospital, Inc. in 1927. The original 37-bed facility was expanded and, in 1982, became MTMC to reflect our status as a comprehensive treatment and referral center for Rutherford and surrounding counties.

In 1986, Middle Tennessee Medical Center joined Baptist and Saint Thomas Hospitals and has since expanded its services to include a new Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Department facilities, and the Women's Pavilion. A decade later, Bell Street Center was added, a 40,000-square-foot surgical suite that expanded the hospital's main campus and includes the Middle Tennessee Ambulatory Surgery Center, MTMC Outpatient Diagnostic Center and the MTMC Women's Imaging Center. We have also recently expanded our Emergency Department and added an NICU Nursery to keep up with the community's growing healthcare needs.

In January 2002, MTMC became a member of Saint Thomas Health Services and Ascension Health and embraced the faith-based mission, vision and values of the organization.
