Meritus Medical Center is a state-of-the-art, not-for-profit, community hospital that has cared for patients for more than a century. Accredited by The Joint Commission, Meritus Medical Center invests millions of dollars and resources each year to provide for the health care needs of vulnerable and underserved populations. The hospital’s link to Robinwood Professional Center, a multiservice medical mall, creates a combined one-million-square-foot main campus, the largest medical footprint in the state. Meritus Health is located at the crossroads of Western Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania, and the Eastern panhandle of West Virginia. Based in Hagerstown, Maryland, Meritus Health’s workforce consists of more than 3,000 employees, including 100 employed providers, more than 400 independent medical staff members, and 240 volunteers who serve about 225,000 residents of the tristate region.
Meritus Health’s flagship, Meritus Medical Center, is a 300-bed facility that is both a Magnet-recognized and Joint Commission–accredited hospital. Meritus Medical Center is also a teaching hospital that houses the primary clinical training site for the Meritus Family Medicine Residency Program as well as a rotational site for more than 1,000 nursing and allied health students annually. Meritus Health includes the Meritus Medical Group, a network of more than 20 medical practices with more than 100 employed providers; Meritus Home Health; and Equipped for Life, a medical equipment company. Meritus Health is also a 25% owner of Maryland Physicians Care, a 225,000-member Medicaid health plan.
