Logan is situated in southwest West Virginia on the banks of the Guyandotte River, which was named for the Guyandotte Beauty, a lovely wildflower indigenous to the area. Logan's Museum in the Park is a regional cultural center, and Logan’s Farmers’ Market offers West Virginia-grown produce. With 500 miles of backcountry trails, there are many opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. Golfers will enjoy the Twisted Gun Golf Club in nearby Wharncliffe; the golf club was built on top of a reclaimed mining site. Chief Logan State Park consists of 3,300 acres, with campsites, an amphitheater, a wildlife center, hiking, swimming, tennis, miniature golf, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
