The Hospital

Located in the heart of Gallatin, Sumner Regional Medical Center is a 155-bed, acute care facility that provides medical services to the people of Sumner County and surrounding communities.  A healthcare leader in the community, the hospital serves as the flagship for HighPoint Health System, a four-hospital system. The facility offers a host of services including emergency, diagnostic, surgical, women’s, pediatric and rehabilitative services.

Sumner Regional Medical Center is fully accredited by The Joint Commission, and includes accredited Chest Pain, Stroke and Cancer Centers, and a Breast Care Center of Excellence.  We are proud to offer patients access to state-of-the-art technology including the latest in diagnostic imaging, robotic surgery, cardiac catheterization and radiation oncology.

The hospital recently opened the Carpenter Cancer Center at Sumner Station, an outpatient campus of Sumner Regional, featuring a new linear accelerator, the addition of a PET-CT to the comprehensive diagnostic imaging center, a new nurse navigation program and new support groups for patients and families undergoing cancer treatment.  In 2017, the hospital will add an additional cardiac catheterization lab at the hospital and will open a new free-standing Emergency Room at Sumner Station. Sumner Regional Medical Center is committed to expanding existing services and adding new ones to best meet the needs of the growing communities that rely on the hospital for health care.

The Community

Gallatin is the county seat of Sumner County, which was formed in 1786 as part of Middle Tennessee – one of the state's three "grand divisions."  It is made up of eight cities including Gallatin, Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Millersville, Portland, Westmoreland and White House, and is home to more than 175,000 residents.

Sumner County is known for its historic charm, scenic beauty and for the small town life many of its communities offer in contrast to the excitement of Nashville, located just 25 miles away.

With 25 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, eight high schools, five private schools, one magnet school, and two colleges, Sumner County offers a variety of academic programs for students of all ages.  Volunteer State Community College, located in Gallatin just a few miles from Sumner Regional Medical Center, is a public, comprehensive community college offering associate degrees, certificates, continuing education, and featuring more than 70 academic programs, including an Allied Health division which partners with Sumner Regional Medical Center to offer on-site training opportunities for students studying radiology, nursing, and respiratory care.

Recreation

As the second-oldest county in Middle Tennessee, Sumner County is fortunate to have seven historic homes and two fort sites that are open to the public for history buffs, including part of the Tennessee Civil War Trail. 

For the outdoor enthusiast, Sumner County features more than 22,000 acres of water and stunning landscapes for fishing, boating, hiking, biking, camping and more.  The county is home to Old Hickory Lake, known as one of Tennessee’s best fishing and outdoor recreation locations.  The lake has eight marinas, including two in Gallatin, and 41 boat access sites. The county is also home to Bledsoe Creek State Park, which offers hiking trails, swimming, fishing, and overnight camping. The county also offers a number of golf courses, including both private and public courses.  With the temperate climate of the area, golfers can typically enjoy playing year-round. A number of parks throughout the area feature public gyms and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and the city of Gallatin boasts a five-mile greenway that winds a paved trail through the city.

For those who love country music, Gallatin is considered a satellite community of Music City, offering a number of live music venues and festivals.  The community also offers a rich blend of arts, theatre and film.  The Palace Theatre, located on the historic square in Gallatin, is a completely restored single screen theatre built in 1908 to play silent films.  It is one of only two independent theatres in Tennessee chosen to host the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers.
