The Hospital

Haywood Regional Medical Center is comprised of a 169-bed hospital; a 54,000-square foot health & fitness center with a wide array of amenities including saunas, steam rooms, personal training and massage therapy; a three-story 44,000-square foot outpatient care center with a laboratory, imaging center including women's imaging, an outpatient surgery center; two urgent care centers open seven days a week; The Homestead,  a six-bed inpatient hospice facility; and 12 multi-specialty physician clinics providing a full spectrum of services including primary care. We provide comprehensive care in a warm and friendly environment by a highly trained and experienced patient care team.

The Community

The residents of Haywood County are enthusiastic about the quality of life available in the community. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Haywood County is the third largest county in Western North Carolina and home to 14 peaks with elevations of at least 6,000 feet (more than any other area east of the Mississippi).  The county experiences very mild summers and thanks to the southern latitude, mild winters.  The annual average temperature is 54 degrees; the temperature averages 38 degrees in January and 71 degrees in June.

Downtown Waynesville, just seven miles southwest of Haywood Regional Medical Center, is a vibrant, friendly small town nestled near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with magnificent mountain views of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Fine shops, galleries, restaurants & microbrew pubs are all within walking distance of Main Street's tree lined brick sidewalks. Historic buildings, relaxing benches, public art & welcoming folks make Waynesville a thoroughly enjoyable place to live & visit. Numerous popular events, parades & festivals occur throughout the year. The heart of Appalachian culture and heritage, Waynesville hosts Folkmoot USA, North Carolina's official international music and dance festival annually.
