Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, operated by the Virginia Department of Corrections, is located in rural Fluvanna County near Troy, about 55 miles northwest of Richmond. The Level 3 facility houses up to 1,200 inmates across multiple custody levels.
Programs include adult education, GED, some college courses, and vocational training such as braille transcription, optical lab work, data entry, and tailoring. Rehabilitative offerings include substance abuse treatment and the MATRIX program.
The facility also maintains a comprehensive medical and mental health unit. In 2021, it received a three-year mammography accreditation and introduced advanced 3-D tomosynthesis imaging.
