Fauquier County is located in the Piedmont region of rural Virginia, 50 miles west of Washington D.C.  Nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the bustling cities of Northern Virginia, recreational and cultural opportunities abound. The Hospital

Fauquier Health is a community health system dedicated to high-quality, patient-centered care that serves the residents of Fauquier and several surrounding counties. It comprises: Fauquier Hospital, a fully-accredited, 97-bed hospital; Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a 115-bed long-term care and rehabilitation facility; the Villa at Suffield Meadows, an assisted living facility; the Wound Health Center and a medically supervised Wellness Center offering health and wellness programs. Fauquier Health also operates ten physician’s offices, including primary care and specialties.

Fauquier offers a host of services including: a 24-hour emergency department, comprehensive cancer program, outpatient imaging, a Family Birthing Center and Intermediate Care Nursery, Wound Healing Center, Wellness Center, a long-term care and rehabilitation center, and an assisted living facility. The hospital is proud to offer patients access to state-of-the-art technology including: 3D mammography, open MRI and coronary artery calcium scoring CT. Fauquier earned Chest Pain Center accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care, the accrediting arm of the American College of Cardiology, and Primary Stroke Center accreditation from The Joint Commission, in addition to being designated a Center of Excellence for Joint Replacement.

Fauquier Hospital’s interventional radiology suite was recently renovated and expanded, and is now able to offer more advanced procedures. In addition, the Family Birthing Center’s Intermediate Care Nursery just completed a renovation to expand the number of neonatal patient beds.

The Community

Fauquier County, located in central Virginia, offers the best of rural and cosmopolitan lifestyles. It features bucolic green landscapes with thousands of acres of pristine open land, but is a mere 50 miles from bustling Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. Charlottesville, home of the University of Virginia and Richmond, Virginia’s capital, are within a two-hour drive. All of these nearby locations offer endless shopping, dining, and arts and entertainment options.

Several towns in Fauquier County, including Warrenton, the county seat, have strong historic ties to the Civil War era. Warrenton boasts a historic Main Street, two Civil War museums and several historic tours and festivals throughout the year.

Fauquier retains a small town atmosphere while providing convenient, efficient community services. Fauquier County public and private schools have a strong reputation, and Lord Fairfax Community College operates a campus in Warrenton. Northern Virginia Community College as well as George Mason University and other colleges are within commuting distance.

Recreation

Known as horse country, Fauquier County is host to a variety of equestrian activities year-round, for participants and spectators. Great Meadow Equestrian facility is a world-class center for horse sports and hosts point-to-point steeplechase events, weekly twilight polo and an annual Fourth of July event that draws thousands.

Local parks and lakes provide myriad opportunities for outdoor recreation. Sky Meadow State Park is located in Delaplane, in the northern-most part of the county, and the world-famous Shenandoah National Park is less than an hour’s drive. Other parks include Monroe Park, which features a gold-mining museum; Crockett Park, featuring boating and fishing on Germantown Lake and hiking trails; and several smaller Town of Warrenton parks. C.F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area and Thompson Wildlife Management Area offer hunting, trapping, primitive camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and birding.

The WARF, Warrenton’s recreation center, offers a tremendous variety of recreational options including fitness rooms and two pools – one featuring a giant slide, lazy river and hot tub, and a second Olympic-sized pool for laps and water aerobics. The grounds of the WARF include a handicap-accessible playground, soccer fields and volleyball courts.

There are many opportunities to enjoy the arts as well: the Allegro Music School, Warrenton Chorale, Fauquier Community Theatre, Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, Fauquier Community Bands, and more. All of these organizations are supported by the Fauquier County Arts Council.
