BJC Behavioral Health

BJC Behavioral Health (BJC BH) is a community mental health center delivering an array of community-based, quality behavioral health care services for children, transition-aged youth, adults and families. BJC BH provides and coordinates behavioral health services for adults with serious mental illness and children who are seriously emotionally disturbed in the central and southern sections of St. Louis City and in St. Louis, St. Francois, Iron and Washington Counties.
BJC BH serves as a point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by the Missouri Department of Mental Health. Both shortand long-term services are provided in a variety of settings including seven clinics, a psychosocial rehabilitation clubhouse, the client’s residence or within contracted treatment provider locations throughout the service areas.
BJC BH also provides and coordinates behavioral health services and programs for select populations. Specialized services include deaf services, vocational assessment and counseling, jail diversion programs, engagement and treatment of the homeless population and treatment for children and youth in the social welfare system. BJC BH operates a number of programs including Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Integrated Co-Occurring Dual Diagnosis Treatment and contracts with area school districts to provide educational support counseling for students. These programs are funded through federal, state and local grants and allocations. BJC BH provides population management for people with serious mental illness and comorbid physical illness managed by primary care physicians and nurses in the community through Healthcare Homes. This approach supports improvement of an individual’s overall health, improving quality of life, reducing mortality and reducing costs to the health system.
The BJC BH service delivery system is Behavioral Health Response, Inc. (BHR). BHR is a 24-hour mental health crisis service center providing telephone crisis intervention services and mobile community crisis assessments. It was developed in partnership with area providers to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive region-wide response to mental health crises. BJC
BH is accredited by The Joint Commission.
