Community Overview

Adventist Health Howard Memorial is located in Willits, California, in beautiful northern Mendocino County. Known as the "Gateway to the Redwoods," the community is home to the world-famous Skunk Train, Frontier Days and some of the most beautiful recreational areas in the country. Willits offers a community and children's theater, excellent golf courses and bountiful outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking and much more.

The city of Willits, centrally located in the heart of Mendocino County, is on U. S. Highway 101 and State Highway 20 West approximately halfway between San Francisco and Eureka (140 miles either direction), 158 miles west of Sacramento and 36 miles east of the Pacific coast. The town is rich in history and beautiful scenery, from rolling hills to picturesque ranches dotting the landscape. Named after Hiram Willits, the town was settled by pioneering ranchers in the 1850s. Willits has a very moderate climate year-round. The coastal influence contributes to this wonderful climate especially in the summer months when our neighbors to the south can be up to 10 degrees warmer. Willits is nestled at the western edge of the Little Lake Valley at 1,350 feet above sea level and is surrounded by the forested mountains of the coastal range.
