ABOUT THE FACILITY

Mount Carmel West - Located near downtown Columbus, Mount Carmel West is the original hospital in the Mount Carmel Health System, offering state-of-the-art facilities and a variety of advanced medical specialties. Mount Carmel West is a certified Primary Stroke Center, has an oncology program that is accredited as a Network Cancer Program, has a Bariatric Center that is designated as a national Center of Excellence, is home to several ACGME-accredited physician residency programs, and houses the Mount Carmel College of Nursing, one of the largest baccalaureate nursing programs in Ohio.

Mount Carmel West was recognized with a 2018 U.S. News & World Report Regional Best Hospital badge and earned “high performing” ratings in the gastroenterology and GI surgery specialty and in heart failure, colon cancer, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and hip and knee replacement procedures. Only the top 10 percent of hospitals evaluated for each specialty earns "high performing" ratings.

In the years to come, Mount Carmel West will be transformed from a full-service hospital into a vibrant, urban outpatient and educational campus that will provide the most needed healthcare services to the neighboring community. The contemporary campus will focus on supporting those with chronic conditions, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and promoting holistic wellness.

The new Mount Carmel West will feature a full-service, 24-hour emergency department; outpatient services, including chronic care clinics, primary care, imaging and lab services; a Community Health Resource Center; a variety of community outreach services; and expanded space for the College of Nursing, while inpatient care will move to Mount Carmel's Grove City campus.
