Meadville Medical Center

Meadville Medical Center is a 249 bed facility with a medical staff of over 140, with 37 medical and surgical specialties to refer and consult with. The acute care facility provides the newest technology for diagnostic, surgical, obstetrical and emergency services; while the non-acute facility offers inpatient mental health, drug and alcohol rehab, transitional care, pain management clinic and a newly renovated (summer 2009) outpatient surgery center. In the spring of 2008, Meadville Medical Center opened the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, a state of the art comprehensive cancer care facility that has been designed around the concept of treating the whole person mind, body and spirit.  Meadville Medical Center will open a state of the art breast imaging center , in early 2010, with diagnostic mammography. Teaching opportunities are available through our family medicine residency program as well as with medical students from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.   Meadville Medical Center has a service area of approximately 96,000 and is located within two (2) hours of Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Cleveland. Multiple lakes and woodlands offer year-round recreation including hunting, fishing, skiing, power and sail boating. Conneaut Lake, a popular resort spot, is located within g minutes of the hospital and boasts water sports as well as private residential homes. Meadville is home to a four season recreation complex with ice hockey programs for all ages as well as swimming, volleyball, tennis and a skate park. Several courses offer challenging play for golfers of all skill levels. Allegheny College, a private liberal arts college, is located in Meadville and adds a significant cultural and educational facet to the community. With beautiful and varied residential neighborhoods, excellent public and private school systems and churches of most denominations, Meadville is truly a great place to live and raise a family.
