Appalachian Regional Healthcare

ARH is a healthcare system serving more than 350,000 residents in and around seven communities in Eastern Kentucky and two in Southern West Virginia. Our nearly 5,000 employees and physicians are dedicated to providing quality health care to all residents in our 20-county service area. With a budget approaching $500 million, ARH is one of the nation’s largest rural healthcare systems and the largest employer in Central Appalachia.

ARH aims to be the healthcare provider of first choice in the region. Unlike many other healthcare organizations, ARH offers a complete, integrated healthcare delivery system made up of hospitals, outpatient services, pharmacies, home delivery of medical equipment and supplies, and the largest rural home health operation in the U.S. This broad range of quality services enables residents to remain in their communities for most of their health care needs.

ARH is determined to meet the highest standards in clinical and administrative quality through what it calls Appalachian Excellence. ARH is also committed to building healthier communities through education and preventative programs that tackle health risks such as diabetes and lung disease. And, as a partner to government, business, schools and other healthcare providers, ARH is determined to continue strengthening local communities and improve the overall quality of life for all area residents.

For half a century, ARH has touched tens of thousands of lives in Central Appalachia. As long as there is a need, ARH will be there. ARH – the Medical Centers of the Mountains.
